About Me, ENS 111

Kyra O’Connor

Student Journalist at Elon University

My name is Kyra O’Connor and I am a sophomore at Elon University. I am majoring in journalism and minoring in business administration. I love to read, cook, be outside and spend time with my friends. I value communication and kindness highly.

My goal of college is to leave a better, more well-rounded and intentional person than I started. My professional goal is to be the best storyteller I can possibly be!

The goals of this course work well with my own values and goals because environmental science is all about learning more about the world around us, and our place within it, and that is exactly what I plan to do in the future.

This is my portfolio for environmental science. Here you will find projects I did, activities I worked on and the lessons I learned. I chose to share my final group projects and two of my reflective learning activities because in this course, my deepest learning came from reflection.

This semester, I was working on overcoming my own feelings of inexperience and ability in the world of science. I feel more insecure when it comes to science and math because I spend less time in these fields. But through group work and individual assignments, I was able to overcome a lot of these feelings and learn more about the water system, environmental racism and PFAS, all things I knew very little about going into the semester.

I hope you enjoy exploring my portfolio as much as I enjoyed creating it. Enjoy!
